Applications and Surveys

Teachers, educators, support staff and admin are encouraged to apply. If you work with students in a public school or in the community, feel free to apply.

Classroom supplies, instructional materials, projects, and other needs that fit your school or program. 

We are a small nonprofit, so we can't fund large projects like building a new gym or buying 3D printers for the entire school district. Our microgrants are generally up to $300 depending on the size and scope of the need. 

Some of the grants we've fulfilled include basic classroom supply needs, new gear for science teachers, organizational materials for elementary classrooms, art supplies for classroom projects, Anishinaabe cultural and community projects, reading material, curriculum, life and vocational skills class supplies for special education students, family food and hygiene pantries within schools, end of year ice cream parties for classrooms.

From Ramen to Tuition

The Oakes Family Scholarship is the namesake to our nonprofit. It provides financial assistance to high school students who demonstrate dedication to their education and community. 

Our scholarship is open to graduating seniors from public schools in Minnesota. Students must be planning to enroll in some form of post-secondary education (college or a trade). There is no GPA requirement. Student must fill out the application and write a 500-word essay.

By awarding this scholarship, we aim to empower students to achieve their goals and make a lasting impact on our communities.

Feel free to include resumes, letters of recommendation, or any other supporting documents with your application. Supporting documents are not required to submit an application.

After you submit your application, the Oakes Family Scholarship board of directors will review the application, essay and any supporting documents. 

Applications are evaluated based on eligibility, financial need, academic goals, community involvement, and the potential impact of the scholarship. 

Applicants will be contacted by email regarding the status of their application and any next steps.
